MDUK Adaptations Manual OT 2nd Edition
New MDUK Adaptations Manual Information To Help Families
Muscular Dystrophy UK has launched the second edition Adaptations manual: for children and adults living with muscle-wasting conditions. Families regularly approach Muscular Dystrophy UK with questions about the best adaptations to get for themselves and for family members. The second edition of the adaptations manual aims to answer those questions.
Claire, whose son Luke has Duchenne muscular dystrophy tells us her experience using the adaptations manual.
"MDUK’s Adaptations manual has proven to be an invaluable resource to my family as we prepare to adapt our home to make it more accessible for our son, Luke, in the future. I thought I had a good understanding of what we needed, but the manual has helped me think about lots of things I would not have thought about. This could save us from additional costly alterations in future."
Revised by Occupational Therapists who work closely with families living with muscle-wasting conditions, our updated guide includes examples and practical information about what is available to families as well as an outline of the process of making adaptations to your home. The Royal College of Occupational Therapists has reviewed and endorsed the guide, assuring its quality.
"The information is practical and the authors have thought of everything to help us feel adequately prepared for the future. I feel much more confident to discuss Luke’s changing needs with our OT, it’s not easy to think of this when he’s still active.
The manual is easy to use and guides you through the whole process. You can pick and choose the sections that are relevant to you, and having everything together in one place makes life so much easier for a busy family like ours."
– Claire O’Hanlon, Northern Ireland
